Zach's Dream of Aran in Le Littoral

Zach's Dream of Aran in Le Littoral

I had wanted to knit a cable knit sweater for a long time and was looking to take a traditional form and modernize it with an unorthodox colorway. The challenge was to find a yarn with a lot of personality but that still allowed for the definition of the cable design to shine through. When I saw LBA's Le Littoral in DK, I knew it I had found my sweater's colorway!

I opted for Drops' Dreams of Aran pattern and made a few small modifications to suit me. I loved that it has a nice mix of different cabling (honeycomb, antler, and regular cables), and I find the saddle shoulder construction to be really flattering:

I made a few small modifications:

  • deleted the 2 rounds of garter after the initial ribbing
  • mirrored the cables for a more symmetrical look
  • shortened the torso a bit

Once I finished it, I absolutely loved the result, and it has become a staple in my wardrobe. What I find remarkable about the Le Littoral colorway is that it is both a statement color and very versatile as it functions almost as a sort of denim, so you can wear it with a lot of different things.
